By Air

Tiruvannamalai does not have its own airport, but it is easily reachable from nearby airports:

Chennai International Airport (MAA) – approx. 190 km / 4.5 hours by road

  • Best option with frequent domestic and international connections.

  • Taxis and buses available directly to Tiruvannamalai.

Bangalore International Airport (BLR) – approx. 250 km / 6 hours by road

  • Good option if visiting from Karnataka or international routes not covered by Chennai.

Pondicherry Airport (PNY) – approx. 105 km / 2.5 hours by road

  • Limited flights but useful for regional connections.

By Train

Tiruvannamalai Railway Station (station code: TNM) is well connected to various cities in Tamil Nadu and South India.

  • Regular trains from Chennai Egmore, Villupuram, Vellore, Madurai, and Tirupati.

  • Overnight trains like the Tirukkural Express (via Villupuram) may be convenient.

  • The station is just 2–3 km from the Arunachaleswarar Temple and Ramana Ashram.

  • Auto rickshaws and taxis are easily available at the station.

🔎 Tip: Book tickets early during festival seasons like Karthigai Deepam and Mahashivratri, as demand is high.

By Road

Tiruvannamalai is well-connected by road from Chennai, Bangalore, Vellore, Salem, Pondicherry, and other towns.
