Biography of Sri Ramana Maharshi
Born as Venkataraman Iyer in 1879 in Tiruchuli, Tamil Nadu, Sri Ramana Maharshi experienced a profound spiritual awakening at the age of sixteen. Following a sudden, intense fear of death, he intuitively inquired, "Who dies?"—an introspection that dissolved his identification with the body and revealed the eternal Self. Soon after, he journeyed to Arunachala, the sacred hill of Shiva, where he remained for the rest of his life. Silent for years and living in deep absorption, his presence attracted seekers from across the world. Without formal initiation or dogma, he guided countless aspirants through the luminous simplicity of Self-enquiry. His life was a living testimony to the stillness of Being—the abiding peace of the Self.
